Painting Homes |
Villa
Catalina COMMUNITY
The Problem |
The 116 cinder block houses at Villa Catalina are
finished and the families have settled in. There is
little to distinguish one home from another. We have
installed street signs with names from Nicaraguan
history and are allowing each family to choose the
colors of their home. In 2007 and continuing in 2008,
we are funding the house painting.

OUR Approach |
Every year, hundreds of missionaries travel to Nicaragua to help
the poor. Over the past few years, missionaries and Nicaraguan
families have worked side by side to build homes and community
buildings in Villa Catalina. Long-lasting friendships have been
made. We want to provide the opportunity for families and
missionaries to work together on the final phase of home
construction in Villa Catalina. Families can chose from several
different colors of paint. |

Why |
Just as we paint our own homes, Nicaraguans find much
pride in having something to call their own. Painting
their homes is the final phase of rebuilding their new
lives. |
The Plan |
Our mission groups are assisting the families in priming
and painting the homes. In doing so, we are establishing
a close ongoing relationship. The village is becoming
more colorful and each family is taking pride in their
home and in the community as a whole. |
Experience |
Our mission groups enjoy spending time with the families
and practicing their Spanish in the process. Each
painted home reflects the taste and individuality of the
family living there.
