| The
Atlanta Bluegrass Co. - 12:00 PM |
| The
Atlanta Bluegrass Co. formed in late 2004 by members
who wanted to bring traditional music other than the
standards back to Georgia. There are so many good
songs and many times they never get sung. So our music
criteria are “if no one is doing a song then
we are”. I would say that we are all traditionalist
but not necessarily diehard purist. We do believe
like Bill Monroe would say “play it like it
was wrote boys” but we all know we can’t
sound like the original artist so in a sense we can
all own a little piece of each song when we play it.
That’s the greatest thing about bluegrass there’s
no notation you have to follow. With that said here
we are: Joe Parker (mandolin, tenor and lead vocals),
Bernie Langford (bass, baritone, lead and tenor vocals),
Keith McGreggor (banjo man), Greg Rogers (guitar,
lead vocals) As a band we're thankful we can help
each other fulfill a dream that we all share. |

thirty years, Banks Burgess and Paul Shane, and
their fabulous band have been bringing folks the
best in good ol' fashioned fun. Banks and Shanes'
finger-snappin' high spirited renditions of folk,
bluegrass, oldies, country, and standards are known
for bringing capacity crowds to their feet! Banks
& Shane band has performed in concert with John
Denver, The Righteous Brothers, The Kingston Trio,
Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Smothers Brothers, Jeff
Foxworthy and many, many more. During the 1988 Democratic
National Convention in Atlanta, Banks & Shane

a sold-out house at the Fox Theater.

Chip
Houston - 2:45 PM |
| |
| For
28 years, Chip Houston has called this southern
city his home. And indeed it is. For Atlanta is
where he was born, raised and realized his passion
for crafting songs. It was Eddie's Attic in Decatur
where Chip cut his teeth on the local scene, playing
in the same room where his great-grandmother, Willi-Mae
Widner worked as a seamstress, decades before Belk's
became Eddie's. Atlanta has been good to Mr. Houston.
He has appeared on Fox 5's Good Day Atlanta, WNNX
99X's The Morning X, performed at Six Flags Over
Georgia, The Hard Rock Cafe, Smith's Olde Bar, Andrew's
Upstairs and the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Folks
around the southeast were discovering Chip's first
album "Chasing the Dark" with great enthusiasm,
while Chip was traveling and living out of his good
friends' one bedroom, basement apartment. In April
of 2005 Chip Houston teamed up with Grammy-winning
producer Mitch Dane and guitar virtuoso Willi Boos
to bring you the result of two years of hard work
and song crafting. "Daybreak" was released
as Chip's second studio album, with huge momentum
and great recognition by radio stations and the
live music venues through the southeast, Chip Houston
has only scratched the surface of what is to come
in 2006. |
The
Transiztors - 4:15 PM |
|
|
The
Transiztors are a new five member band that came
together through "divine intervention."
Several years ago, each member was "called"
through their faith to minister to teens at Prince
of Peace Catholic Church in the suburbs of Atlanta,
coming together to support the Life Teen program
at their church. As they grew together, both in
faith and musically, they realized that there were
a variety of musical styles pent up within the various
members of the band. After playing contemporary
praise and worship for a number of years, these
five members decided to explore a secondary outlet
for their music, and The Transiztors were born.
