Agua for Christ Well Drilling Group

Agua for Christ is a specialized mission team focusing on clean water projects in the Chinandega and Leon areas of Nicaragua. It was formed by Amigos Board member Steve Bollinger after his first mission trip in 2001. Steve learned that the dehydration, diarrhea and other conditions affecting children there are the result of contaminated water, since many communities have no clean water sources nearby. Steve and a group of like-minded volunteers became aware of Living Water International, a Houston, Texas nonprofit organization devoted to clean water drilling programs around the world. The team was soon trained by Living Water to drill, install and repair pumps. Most of our mission trips now have a well drilling component.

Through the generosity of our donors, we have purchased a large DR 100 rig capable of drilling through rock, a 200 PSI/ 450 CFM air compressor, a sturdy fitted trailer and a heavy duty 4 x 4 truck. Now, even the most remote, mountainous settlements will have clean water drinking wells. In addition, we employ a local team of Nicaraguans to drill and maintain the existing wells. We have recently installed wells for drip-irrigation agricultural projects, so farmers can grow crops year around for consumption and sale, despite the six-month drought that strikes Nicaragua each summer.

Agua for Christ has proven to be an effective enterprise, performing a vital service to many poor families. Please help by donating to clean water projects.
